World Health Day 2011 |
"Aging and Life Course"
Ageing and health - to which each and every one of us can relate - is the theme of this year's World Health Day. Using the slogan "Good health adds life to years", campaign activities and materials will focus on how good health throughout life can help older men and women lead full and productive lives and be a resource for their families and communities. World Health Day is celebrated every year on 7 April with the sponsorship of the WHO (World Health Organization).

World Health Day 2011 Slogan
World Health Day 2011 Slogan |
As it is clear from the theme of world health day 2011 that WHO wants the governments and stakeholders to implement the policies and practices needed to prevent and counter the emergence of highly resistant microorganisms.
When resistant microorganisms cause an infection and that infection fails to respond treatments of antibiotics and antimicrobial medicines, the infection can result in prolonged illness and ultimately in death. This is also known as “Drug Resistance”. So this year WHO wants a global support and commitment to safeguard antimicrobial medicines for future generations.
Today on April 7, 2011(world health day 2011), WHO will bring a six-point policy package to combat the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
So let us all join hands together to help WHO in the mission and keep in our minds
“Antimicrobial resistance and its global spread: no action today, no cure tomorrow”
